07/24 Corporate fundraising event benefitting business, employee and charity
When the head of Next warning that the cost of fashion wear will potentially increase by 10% next autumn it is worth thinking about how you are going to look fashionable in the next year. Because of the fall in the price of sterling it will make the cost of bringing fashion clothing into the country much higher in the next year as most new fashion wear is priced in dollars and is brought in from Asia.
The production of fashion wear has gone out to countries like China, Bangladesh and Vietnam due to their low labour cost but this appears to have had a sting in its tail for many big brands as with the falling price of sterling, the exchange rate of sterling with dollars has reduced by 15%. Many retailers will have problems passing on inflated prices as the cash paying public are potentially going to be a great deal more precious with their money and may choose to save instead of spend unless insentives are their to buy fashion items.
Some enterprising organisations have started running fashion show fundraising events where you can buy original labelled fashion wear with up to 50% off the recommended retail cost. They are sold as slightly imperfect though most are not seconds but over-runs or end of lines. These Fundraising events let individuals benefit a good cause of their choice, and buy a selection of labelled clothing at knocked down rates.
Personally I think it will do individuals good to discover different ways of putting their mits on fashion wear. So maybe if you have a Corporate Fundraising Event or village hall fundraising event you could get in a fashion show fundraiser, make buying a fun event and save yourself some cash at the same time.
