Number plates part of mot test.
Recent additions to the mot test now cover the number plates fitted to the vehicle. Examiners will be checking the legality of the plates as well as condition. Letters must be of the Charles Wright font with character spacing of 11mm, backgrounds must be plain white and yellow and they must display the british standard BS145au, only the european flag is allowed along with the number plate makers name and postcode. Cracked , discoloured ,water damaged or illegible plates are also not allowed. Non-compliance will result in an m.o.t. failure with the rectification costing a new pair of plates and retest fee.
