We’re not all ‘Boy Racers’ you know!

Why are young people always being made to pay exorbitant insurance premiums? In a recent article about insurance for young drivers, 34% of dangerous motoring offences involve under 21 year olds. With this in mind, is it fair that all young drivers should be made to pay the price of their dangerous peers? Bearing in mind that young male drivers are ten times more likely to have an accident on the roads, is it equally fair that female drivers should bear the cost through their high insurance premiums?

While at first, insurance premiums can cost an arm and a leg, the good news is that as time passes and you haven’t needed to make a claim, that your insurance company makes clear reductions to the cost of your bill. It does actually pay to be a young safe driver! Drivers between the ages of 17 and 25 who have built up 8 years of no claims will experience a drop in their premium of 90%!

In the mean time, you can shop around for the best deals (for a young driver a good deal would be around the £500 mark). Additionally, look out for insurance companies with special schemes for young drivers. Check out the companies Swinton and Endsleigh for its six month starter scheme.
