What Job Opportunities for our School Leavers?
I feel really sorry for kids about to leave school. The latest government figures show that the unemployment levels are going up month by month. Unemployment is at its highest level for 12 years. The number out of work is at 2.26 million, which represents 7.2% of the workforce. There are few Job Opportunities for school leavers. 600,000 young people who leave school, college or university this summer will not find a job. In a survey almost half UK companies say they are not planning to hire new starters. Not a great start is it for young people who spend years in learning establishments only to find they will have to claim benefits like Job Seekers Allowance right from the beginning of their working lives.
