Gastric Bypass Complications – Dumping Syndrome
Weight loss surgery is a major form of surgery being carried out on severely overweight patients and so the list of gastric bypass complications is long and includes such things as infection, bleeding, gallstones, ulcers, hernia, blood clots, calcium deficiency and many others. In addition, one particular complication is what is referred to as dumping syndrome which is characterized by dizziness, nausea, sweating, a feeling of bloating and vomiting. This is one particular complication which is particularly unpleasant and patients really need to try very hard to avoid it. Fortunately, it is often caused by eating sweet foods and so the solution does to a large degree lie with the patient and simply means avoiding sugar and sugary foods in any post-operative diet.
