Home constipation treatment
Eat regular, well-balanced meals with plenty of fibre and less fat. Aim to include several servings of cereals (breakfast cereals especially bran, rice, grains) and at least five servings of fruit and vegetables daily. Increase your fibre intake steadily or else you may feel bloated, and possibly experience stomach cramps and gas. It may be difficult for some people with a fibre-intolerance to adhere to this method of constipation treatment.
Drink at least eight glasses of fluid a day and try and cut down on coffee and alcohol. Hot drinks such as tea or hot water, may help stimulate bowel movements.
Try and exercise each day, even if this is very light exercise - since immobility only serves to exacerbate the causes of constipdation.
