Which Medical Walkers Are Covered by Medicare?
Medicare will cover Medical Walkers that are really needed by patients. The need will be determined by Medicare based on the doctor’s prescription and documentation and patients’ medical records. Patients under the Medicare Medical Advantage Plans should contact first their plan provider before making a purchase. There are separate procedures implemented by these plans before prescriptions for medical walkers are approved. Some Advantage Plans pay the total cost of the medical walker if approved. Patients who are enrolled in Medicare Part B however will have to pay 20 percent of the amount approved by Medicare and the difference between what Medicare approved and the cost of the walker.
