Fish Food Tips
Anything in excess can be bad, and the same is true when feeding your fish. You simply cannot fill the tank with fish food and expect your fish to consume all of it and be healthy. The by-product of leftover fish food is a source of water impurities. When you overfeed your fish, you might notice the cloudy water in your fish tank as a result of having too much left over food that contaminates the water.
How often you feed your fish will depend on the types of fish you have in your aquarium. Most often, feeding is done once or twice a day. But this should be in smaller portions. As a guide, observe how much they eat in 5 minutes and base your servings on this.
On the other hand, herbivores have to be fed more than once a day. This is because they can’t stock a lot food given they’re smaller stomachs. Young fish and the newly hatched should also be fed more frequently.
