Referee Is One Of The Executor Duties
About two thirds of the way through the estate settlement process I had succeeded in paying off all of the creditors. Then I was required to submit a preliminary accounting to all of the proposed beneficiaries. At this point I had to add another job to my executor duties. I then became a referee. There were two not so distant relatives mentioned in the will that wanted a complete and detailed accounting of not only what they could expect to get but also what anyone else was going to get. They argued up one side and down the other that the way the will was being interpreted was costing them part of their inheritance.
