Animal Ark outside Reno
Open from April 1 to November 2, the Animal Ark, located just outside Reno, Nevada. The Ark, a sanctuary for wild animals who would not be able to survive on their own in the wild, is situated on 38 acres of wilderness that is built to resemble the animals’ habitats.Park hours are from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm, and they are even open on holidays, such as Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, and Columbus Day. While the park is closed in the winter, they usually open up for one weekend (dependent on weather) so that the public will get to see their favorite animals in their winter coats. For those who live in and around the Reno area, this is a great opportunity. The animals that fill the Animal Ark include tigers, lions, cheetahs, bears, wolves, and even raptors. It is a great chance for people to see the animals in environments that are similar to the ones in which they would live in the wild. While the Ark does draw a good crowd, you will be happy to know that you won’t have to push and squirm into a crowd just to get a glimpse of your favorite animal, as you might in some of the big zoos.
