Making copies
If you have ever tried to make a copy dvd from an original, you may have noticed that it’s not exactly straight forward all the time.
These days, you can not know by looking at a DVD if it is a single layer or dual layer DVD. You also have to deal with data dvds differently than video dvds, and then on top of all of that there are a number of forms of copy protection you must contend with as well.
Naturally, the industrythat produces content does not want you making copies. They rather prefer that you buy one instead, and let them do the work of making copies.
