Speed Up Vista By Managing Startup Programs

The more programs that start with Windows, the longer it takes to start and the more programs that are running, the slower is Windows. So it can be very useful to clean up the boot list and ensure that only the necessary amount is included.

This can be done by using your vista registry cleaner or manually. If manually, click the “Manage programs that run at startup” in the “Performance Information and Tools” panel on the left, to open Windows Explorer program in Windows Defender.

To the left is a list of all programs that start automatically. Click on an individual program to get detailed information on the panel to the right, information that may help you determine if there is a program that really needs to be stopped.  There are also a number that shows whether the program is included in Vista or not.

Some programs can be removed or disabled by selecting them and a click on the respective button. In other cases, the keys are gray and can not be used.  If you still want to disable such programs, you must do it on the Startup tab in the System Configuration.  You start it by typing msconfig in Run.
